About
Hi, I'm Alexis!
If anyone had told me when I was a teenager that as an adult my profession would be in the realms of dance and fitness, I would have laughed at them, loudly and obnoxiously. As a child I was a decidedly average dancer, and as a dorky teenager I would try to actively avoid sports as much as possible (aside from an ill-fated stint as goalkeeper for the girl’s football team when I was 14). At 19 I got dragged along to a bellydance class as moral support for a friend that wanted to try it. And that one class turned my entire life around.
A knee injury in my early 20’s, which took far longer than really necessary to diagnose (at one point a specialist insultingly told me it was ‘growing pains’…), wasn’t really healing and ultimately led to me being discharged with the instruction to stop doing what was aggravating it.
This experience showed me that if I wanted to be in control of my body and do the things that I enjoyed, then I needed to educate myself and take responsibility for my own body. This led to a now decade long love affair with all things fitness, and I am constantly educating myself on the latest research in safe dance and exercise practice to make sure my clients can prevent injuries before they even occur. I became a qualified Mat Pilates instructor in 2015, and Yoga instructor in 2023, and have pursued many more qualifications to enable me to constantly give back to my clients. I am a qualified Pre and Post Natal Exercise specialist and have a particular interest in pelvic health, and am sympathetic to the needs of pregnant and post-partum people, having recently become a mother myself.
Taking that first bellydance class opened my eyes to all the wonderful ways the body is unique and all of the amazing possibilities we can create by moving. I have had a joyful career as a performer and teacher, getting to travel the world to share my passion, being commissioned for choreographies and performing in top level dance companies in the field.
My greatest passion in my work is helping people to discover who they are and what they have to say through movement. I love nothing more than coaching people through their fitness goals or giving dancers the tools to develop their own creative voice. I love teaching in all its forms, whether on a one to one basis, in a small group or on a huge stage. I want to share with you my passion for all I have learned over the past several decades, my enthusiasm for taking you to new heights in your physical and creative journeys, and to give you the freedom to explore the inherent possibilities of your body. Clients keep coming back to me because I’m generous with my time and knowledge, because I make them feel like the most important person in the room, and because I genuinely care about your experience and your journey. My greatest hope for my clients is that, like me, they stumble upon a system of movement that ignites their desire to learn, to grow and most importantly, to move. Being fit shouldn’t be about torturing yourself, it should be about having fun, loving who you are unashamedly, and discovering the incredible thing that is your body.
If you want to discover the joy of movement, expand your creative voice, love yourself for who you are and discover what makes you special, I encourage you to come and work with me. I have created multiple options for us to engage with each other, whether in person or online. Please check out my offerings to find the option that suits you best, and let’s begin our adventure together!
